It's been no secret that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been weighing up his targets and wants to bring in a new central midfielder during this summer's transfer window.

The latest player on his shortlist is French international Yohan Cabaye and he is ready to move in with an offer as the transfer window clock is ticking.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has already admitted that he is expecting offers on his two main midfielders Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote before the end of August. His preparations have even involved lining up potential replacements for his star players.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in both Tiote and Cabaye but it is United who are ready to make the first move with Cabaye.

Pardew will do everything in his powers to keep hold of Cabaye, with Newcastle looking to challenge for a top 4 spot this season after turning out an impressive campaign last season. 26-year-old Cabaye is seen as a key player and is a pivotal part of the team.

He joined Newcastle last year after spending his career in France playing for Lille. A cult hero there he spent seven years at the club making 194 appearances. He joined Newcastle after declaring he wanted a shot in one of the best leagues in the world. A late starter at international level he has now become a regular gaining 12 caps last year, 16 in total now.

Ferguson will now step up his pursuit to bring in a centre midfielder with two weeks remaining and is pondering a move for Cabaye.
