According to one serious source, Manchester United has agreed a deal with highly rated defender Ezequiel Garay. There was talk originally about the player returning to Real Madrid, from whom Benfica signed the player last year, however, it seems that Manchester United have been working behind the scenes for a few months to persuade the player to sign for the club.
This will officially be Moyes first signing for the club and at £17m, might seem a lot to pay for a defender, however, Garay has shown significant improvement over the last season and with his impressive performances, has attracted the interest of top European Clubs, but it looks as though Manchester United have won the race for his signature. His addition to the squad is vital, as United lack a real strength in depth at the back.
This will not be Moyes last signing as it has become increasingly clear, that since Jose Mourinho`s exit from Real Madrid, Ronaldo`s position has hardened. The player has told Madrid that he will not sign a new contract. That means he will be able to leave on a free in 2 years’ time; a prospect which will not be acceptable for newly re-elected president, Perez.
Manchester United is preparing a mega £65million bid to lure Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford this summer. Ronaldo has alerted his old club after he reportedly turned down a new contract with Real Madrid, and put his house up for sale. Manchester United boss David Moyes believes that the club can bring Ronaldo back to the Premier League and the champions will be favourites to land the Portuguese star, after Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho blasted Ronaldo in the media.
United sponsors Nike may yet have a hand in any deal, as it was previously reported that they would help bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. His arrival may possibly signal the end for Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford unless manager Moyes can come to a satisfactory agreement with the want-away striker.
