Sir Alex Ferguson is set to reveal the signing of Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie, according to various reports on Tuesday.

The Arsenal striker has been linked with a move to United and has been in discussions with them, and his own manager Arsene Wenger regarding the deal. The Dutch international who has been debating staying at Arsenal, has now decided to stick to his original plan and leave the Gunners this season, instead of playing the final year of his contract.

The fee has not been confirmed yet but Arsenal are ready to cash in on United's £22 million offer that is fully against Arsene Wengers wishes. Arsenal's manager wants Van Persie to play out his final season at the Emirates despite stating that he will not be signing a new contract with them.

The deal will be confirmed this week with Arsenal doctors heading out to Holland in order to complete Van Persie's medical whilst he is on international duty.

29-year-old Van Persie has been a loyal servant to Arsenal football club since the age of 21 and has been emotionally divided this season whilst deciding the best move for himself. Having a strong love for the club where he has so many happy memories for is tough to leave, but Van Persie wants to win trophies and does not see this happening at Arsenal.

Sir Alex Ferguson has constantly admired the forward during his years at Arsenal. United striker Wayne Rooney has also stated his desire for Van Persie to join The Red Devils.

It's looking like it will now only be a matter of days before Robin Van Perise gets officially unveiled as a Manchester United player.
