Manchester United suffered another blow today when Brazil International Lucas Moura's agent claimed the players proposed move to United will not go through unless Sir Alex Ferguson meets Sao Paulo's asking price.
United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson on Monday confirmed interest for the 19-year-old Brazilian when he spoke ahead of United's match against Shanghai Shenhua in Shanghai. When asked whether the bid of £26m has been agreed by the Brazilian side, Ferguson denied the reports claiming United have not reached an agreement yet for Moura.
The players agent Wagner Ribeiro has warned United by claiming the English Giants has to meet the asking price of the Sao Paulo in order get the signature of Brazilian wonder kid.
"They have reached their limit. They will not offer anything more. He will not leave. He is happy in Sao Paulo" Ribeiro said. "This matter has to be terminated. There is no possibility of him leaving now"
"Manchester United made an offer which was refused, and will not do another because they came up to their limit." Ribeiro added.
United have already signed Shiniji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund and Nick Powell from Crewe in the current summer Transfer window. Ferguson is also looking forward to signing the Dutch striker Robin Van Persie from Arsenal to strengthen United's attack.
"At this moment we're looking at other options in terms of bringing other players in. We're not lying on our backsides doing nothing. We're trying hard to bring other players to the club." Ferguson added at a news conference in Shanghai.
The current situation looks like United are experiencing a sense of deja vu of after a similar experience during the Wesley Sneijder saga last summer Transfer. It's less than 24 hours when Ferguson confirmed United's inetrest in Moura, the players agent has urged the United manager to meet the asking price for 19-year-old Brazilian. United are making a lot of news in the current transfer window. Will Moura sign for United or will he still play for Sao Paulo? Time alone will tell us whether United will manage to sign Moura or not.
