According to The Guardian, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to make a shock move for former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Having already pulled off the shock signing of former gunner Robin Van Persie during the summers transfer window, it now looks like Fabregas is the next former gunner on Ferguson's radar.
Fabregas has suffered a mixed time since joining Barcelona and has spent the majority of his recent matches sat on the side lines. Although Fabregas has come out and claimed that he is still happy at Barcelona, there is only a certain amount of time that a player of his calibre will be prepared to watch from the side.
A return to the Premier League could well tempt the Spanish international and there have even been reports linking Arsenal with a move back in for him as well.
Of course, if Fabregas does become available, it will alert the likes of the other bigger clubs such as AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
25-year-old Fabregas joined Barcelona in 2011 after turning out 303 appearances for Arsenal, knocking up an impressive 103 goals. Since joining Barcelona he has made 52 appearances, with many of those being off the subs bench.
Sir Alex Ferguson has always been an admirer of the attacking midfielder and would do anything in his powers to bring him to Old Trafford.
Fabregas has been adapted as a 'fake number 9' within the Spanish national squad and at times for Barcelona, a role that he hasn't always been used to in his career, but can be affective there. He has the versatility to play anywhere within the midfield or attack.
