Manchester United have been linked with several players in the current transfer window. The English giants have managed to sign Japanese International Shiniji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund and Nick Powell from Crewe.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already failed to sign Eden Hazard who joined the Champions League winners and Lucs Moura who agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain last week. Ferguson is now targeting Arsenal skipper Robin Van Persie who has made it clear that he will not sign a new contract with his current club.

Van Persie has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Reports over the weekend suggested United are in pole position to sign the Dutch striker as the Old Trafford outfit are pushing hard to get the deal sealed before the new season begins. However the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement for the Dutch striker.

Speaking about Van Perise, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said there have been no further developments since United's bid to sign him became common knowledge.

"There's no news on Van Persie."Our fans want him to stay so you can understand they are excited. Anything I could say about Van Persie would be a lie because he's our player and that's it" Wenger said

"Robin scored 30 goals last season and you want to keep your best player. He was player of the year in England. We want to keep him. I cannot tell you more at the moment because I don't know more" Wenger went on to add.

The current transfer window has been disappointing for United and their fans as they are still trying to strengthen the squad to bring back the title to Old Trafford. Van Persie's addition will definitely bring more strength to United's attack. Wenger is keen to hold is main player and Ferguson wants to get the deal sealed before the new season begins. Time alone will tell us whether Van Persie will join United or will he still play for Arsenal.
