Russian giants Zenit are launching an astonishing last minute attempt to bring in Manchester United winger Luis Nani, with their plan to make an official offer for the pacy winger.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is not keen on letting Nani go, but Zenit are not short on cash and are set to make an offer that would be very difficult to refuse.
Portuguese international Nani has been on the receiving end of frustrated United critics and supporters alike, especially after his recent under-par performance in their 1-0 defeat against Everton on Monday. He failed to make an impact and was prone to giving the ball away cheaply.
Inconsistency seems to be the key with Nani, however Ferguson is prepared to stick with the 25-year-old and show his patience and faith in the player.
Zenit are looking to make some big name last-ditch signings before the 31st of August and will do what they can to tempt Nani across Europe with a high wage offer. Ex-Manchester City player Georgie Kinkladze is also involved in the attempted deal, which could sway it in Zenit's favour.
Nani joined United as a 20-year-old youngster from Sporting CP in 2007 and has had a major impact on recent title challenges. He has clocked up 37 goals in 196 appearances for United, which is a fairly decent record for a winger. But his recent performances last season has seen him get targeted by critics, many demanding that he leaves Old Trafford to free up some space for their top heavy squad.
Nani offers great pace, skill and ability. He will want to stay at Old Trafford but if Ferguson is prepared to sell, then he will want to leave. It will however depend on United's pursuit of other attacking midfielders such as Hector Herrera for example.752245
