According to Sky Sports News, Sir Alex Ferguson will look to fill the void in Manchester United's central defence by recruiting Ryan Shawcross.
The Stoke City defender is a former Red Devils youth player now blossoming at the Britannia stadium, and Fergie has been suitably impressed with the progress he's made since he left Old Trafford in 2008.
With Rio Ferdinand declining and Nemanja Vidic a long-term injury concern, Ferguson has seemingly made it a priority to strengthen his defensive corp this January.
Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones are all capable players, but lack English Premier League experience and can't lead the line. Shawcross, the current Potters captain, would be an ideal solution to Fergie's defensive woes, adding steel, comitment and poise to the squad.
How much would Shawcross cost, and would you welcome him back to Manchester with open arms?
