Two of the most well-known clubs in England face each other in one of the most well-known Derby matches, United take on City.
Mancini’s side is the only team not to have lost a league game this season, however Ferguson’s men will be looking to overthrow last year’s EPL Champions in what promises to be an exciting game.
In previous years, the meetings between the two Manchester sides have been explosive, both on the pitch and in the stands, were the rivalry runs through the fans veins. However, it has only been since City began to splash the cash in recent years that the Derby has become a big affair.
The last corresponding meeting went down as a City win, with Vincent Kompany netting the winning goal 1 minute into injury time at the end of the first half.
The match is now to be played on the 9th of December at 1:30, due to a broadcasting issue with SkySports.
Players to watch:
Manchester United’s van Persie:
United’s new-boy van Persie will be looking to make a big impact on the pitch at the weekend, in what is his first Derby game for the Red Devils. Van Persie moved to Manchester from Arsenal in the summer, in what turned out to be one of the biggest transfer’s of that period. Van Persie has made an impressive start to his season, taking no time to settle in with his new surroundings or adjust to his new team. The Dutchman has an impressive tally so far this season, and will certainly be looking to add to it against his new rival team.
In my opinion, van Persie’s left boot will be the star of the show come Sunday, having made a name for himself as one of the best strikers in England, there is no doubt that this will tip the scales in United’s favour.
Based on previous performances of both teams, I’m calling a 2-0 United win, which would put them 6 points clear of second place City.
