The table leaders Manchester United having a 6 point lead welcome the Sunderland team at Old Trafford this weekend.
Manchester United won an enthralling Manchester derby at Etihad last weekend and Sunderland thrashed Reading 3-0 at home to get themselves out of the relegation zone and now stand at fourteenth place.
With the Red Devils firing in from all angles and Sunderland getting back their momentum with Steven Fletcher coming in, this one seems to be an exciting one for the weekend.
5 players who should be on everyone’s radar this weekend are :
1. WAYNE ROONEY
Wayne Rooney has answered back his critics for his lack of goal scoring in a thundering fashion by scoring 4 goals and providing an assist in 2 successive weeks. He is playing in the hole behind Van Persie but is hungry for goals and is sure to score many. He scored 2 brilliant goals last week against Manchester City and will look to follow up the same momentum against Martin O Neill’s men.
2. ROBIN VAN PERSIE
The former gunners captain has been a prolific signing for Sir Alex Ferguson and has paid back well for the 25 million pounds spent on him this summer by the Scotsman. He has already scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists and is topping the fantasy premier league charts at the moment. No one can forget the injury time splendid free kick against City last weekend which proved to be the match winner and sent the red half of Manchester wild with joy.
His partnership with Rooney is proving to be the best in the premier league and they both look set to achieve the 20+ goal target Sir Alex Ferguson has set for them this season.
3. NEMANJA VIDIC
The Manchester United Stalwart and reliable captain has been plagued with injuries and had not had a good time being out for almost whole of the last season and playing very little part in this season as well. But Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that Vidic is fit and is sure to feature in the United’s starting 11 against Sunderland which may lessen the defensive frailities for the Red devils that they had been suffering whole season.
4. STEVEN FLETCHER
The 25 year old Scotsman couldn’t feature for Sunderland in the 3-1 loss to Chelsea last weekend due to an injury but made his mark right away in the next match by scoring against Reading after being goalless for the last 4 matches. He has been the vital man for Sunderland with his pace and finishing and will look to cause problems to the United defence all 90 minutes on the pitch this weekend.
5. ADAM JOHNSON
The former Manchester City winger is gaining the confidence back and becoming a solid player for the Sunderland left wing which was imminent in his brilliant display in the last weekend’s 2 matches that he played especially the one against Chelsea where he performed extraordinarily well and scored the only goal for the Black cats. His pace and dribbling will be difficult to control and he’ll get various opportunities to cut through the United right back and make goals.
These 5 players are sure to shine and with both teams coming from a fresh win, the encounter looks to be a great one for both sets of the fans. It will surely be a treat to watch.
