NFL Films President Steve Sabol Dies At 69

The football world has suffered a major loss today. Steve Sabol, the genius behind NFL Films, died today at the age of 69 after an 18 month battle with brain cancer.

If nothing else, Sabol was a visionary. The way he looked at the sport and presented it to his viewers made it much more than just a game. Through Sabol's eyes, football was this majestic thing: a mixture of honor and pride, and just how far one man would go to prove he was better than the next.

Modern day gladiators.

As a young man who played football for 6 years of my life, I can stay without a doubt in my mind that had it not of been for Sabol's work, I would of never been inclined to pick up a helmet in the first place.

His visions of the game inspired me, and I greatly thank him for his contributions that not only sparked my interest in this great game, but the interest of countless others.
Rest in peace, Mr. Sabol.
