'Persie'stent Juve

For Arsenal and Wenger, it is the same old story. Robin Van Persie, their goal machine and saviour last season is not just going to leave the club, he is doing so at his own pace, putting fans through an unnecessary ordeal.

Both Manchester Clubs, United and City and Juventus are keen to sign the Dutch master but it seems as though Juventus have stolen a march on their European rivals. Fabio Parisi, a FIFA agent claims that the deal is most likely to happen. For the time being, Van Persie is training at the Gunners' London Colney training ground.

With Manchester City having an embarassment of riches when it comes to forwards and Manchester United certainly no worse off, Juventus seems to be a better fit for Van Persie. If Arsenal indeed sell Van Persie, they would be well advised to avoid adding teeth to their bitter Premier League rivals.

Van Persie though, would prefer joining either Manchester clubs. A player of his calibre would find himself in the thick of things at either club. Juventus on the other hand have had tough times in the recent times, despite their Serie A success last season. The Calciopoli and two Serie A titles they were stripped off is still fresh in most of our minds. Antonio Conte, the Juventus manager is accused of failing to report match fixing in two games in the 2010-11 season when he was in charge of Siena in Serie B.

Manchester Clubs would certainly prove  less controversial places for him to be although he can expect backlash from Arsenal fans and with good reason. Just when Arsenal seem to be signing quality players, fans would not like being robbed of the chance to see Van Persie team up with the likes of Podolski and Giroud.

The desire to win trophies drive any footballer and it is understandable in case of Van Persie, considering his contemporaries have cabinets full of trophies. But on evidence, Manchester clubs offer him a better chance of doing so than the Serie A club.

This saga seems to go on forever and it would be interesting to watch where Van Persie ends up playing this season. For the time being, Arsenal fans would do well to repose faith on Wenger and his men to carry on the good job like they so admirably did last season.
