On the back of scoring his first senior goal for Dinamo Zagreb, 16-year-old Alen Halilovic is on the agenda of some of Europe's biggest clubs.
Touted as the new Lionel Messi, Halilovic possesses the type of skills and quick feet that have had pundits in the world of football talking about the Croatian international in the same breathe of Messi and fellow Croatian Luka Modric. Both being the type of players who glide around the football pitch with the ball stuck to their feet, its a seemingly natural football trait that players are born with, and Halolovic has it.
Recently striding onto a through ball to become one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, he calmly took the ball in his stride and delicately flicked it over the diving keeper to provide a sublime finish, as he celebrated his first senior goal.
Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United were already scouting the young Croat, along with Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid. But since his recent growth burst, Chelsea have also joined the list of clubs watching the hot prospect and are set to join the chase.
He is being spoken about as being the next big talent and already he offers versatility, playing as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, he has a certain composure and a great eye for goal.
Halilovic has featured regaularly for the Croatian youth sides, most recently featuring for the Under-17s squad, scoring once in 3 matches. There is surely only a matter of time that Zagreb will be able to keep hold of their young starlet with football's finest heavily breathing down their necks.
