Real Madrid have been surprisingly quiet in the summer transfer window so far as the Spanish giants are yet to make the required transfers to upgrade their squad for the upcoming campaign.
However, this has not slowed down the rumor mill and Los Galacticos have been heavily linked with big-name summer signings almost every day.
In this article, we will have a look at the latest rumors related to the club and the credibility and likelihood of each rumor.
1. Luka Modric
According to the latest reports in Croatia, Luka Modric will leave Tottenham Hotspur to sign for Real Madrid in a deal worth £35 million.
Modric has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium over the past few weeks and Madrid will surely wrap up this deal before the end of the transfer window.
With the 26-year-old's arrival, Madrid won't only get a great an all-round midfield maestro, but would now also be able to ship off Brazilian superstar Kaka, who looks set for a move back to his old abode, AC Milan.
2. Ricardo Carvalho
Real Madrid are apparently willing to offload Portuguese veteran and former Chelsea defender, Ricardo Carvalho, with Tottenham Hotspur the most likely destination for the 34-year-old.
Carvalho encountered an injury-plagued 2011-12 season, in which he was only able to garner about 13 appearances for the club.
With Sergio Ramos performing well in the center back position and both Raphael Varane and Raul Albiol in their ranks, Madrid could surely be expected to sell an 'old' and 'well-past-his-prime' player like Ricardo Carvalho.
3. Daniel Agger
According to the Daily Mirror, Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Liverpool center back Daniel Agger.
Even though Jose Mourinho and Co. have the sufficient funds to prize the Dane away from Anfield, it is highly unlikely that a deal would be struck between the two clubs.
The is because, as mentioned above, Madrid already have the sufficient depth at the center back position and buying Agger would only result in the hindrance of Raphael Varane's growth.
Well another likely transfer rumor.
It has been reported over the past few days that midfielder Kaka will be returning to AC Milan this summer.
With the likely arrival of Luka Modric, Kaka first-team opportunities will become limited and as stated earlier, one can surely expect the 30-year-old to leave Los Blancos this summer. However, one would have to see if Milan would be able to afford Real Madrid's demands for the outgoing Brazilian.
5. Robin van Persie
In a crazy transfer news, Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Arsenal want-away captain Robin van Persie.
In all fairness, this rumor looks nothing more than a false and baseless report.
Madrid already possess two of the best young strikers in world football through Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema and with Cristiano Ronaldo versatile enough to play as the sole striker, the arrival of an injury-prone Robin van Persie would be a meaningless transfer. Added to that, it is overwhelmingly likely that van Persie could be heading to Manchester United this transfer window.
