In perhaps one of the most craziest rumours of the current winter transfer window, Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with a sensational move for Chelsea custodian, Petr Cech.
Having fallen out with long-term ‘keeper and club legend Iker Casillas in the past few weeks, Italian source TuttoMercato suggests that Jose Mourinho is apparently keen on bringing the Czech international to the Santiago Bernabeu in order to replace his current No 1.
“Italian source TuttoMercato claim that Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is keen on reuniting with his former Blues charge Petr Cech.
The Bernabeu boss has sensationally dropped captain Iker Casillas for the past two La Liga fixtures and has set his sights on the Czech Republic international, who has been a virtual ever present at Chelsea for the past five seasons and has racked up almost 400 appearances overall for the West London side since his £7m move to the club in June 2004.”
In all fairness, there are more chances of Fernando Torres scoring a hattrick, than this transfer news being true.
“San Iker” might be currently going through a tough phase with the Whites, having been dropped in favour of Antonio Adan for his side’s last two domestic fixtures, but the Spain captain is still one of the best exponents of his art and can be considered as an ‘untouchable’ personality at Madrid due to his illustrious past at the club.
Mourinho might be snubbing Casillas of late, however, it’s an obvious fact that sooner or later, the latter will eventually reclaim his starting XI spot.
Moreover, Cech himself is unlikely to leave the Stamford Bridge any time soon. The 30-year-old is regarded as one of the most crucial parts of the Chelsea team and it is highly unlikely that either the player or the club would be interested in the rumoured transfer.
Elsewhere in the transfer market, Goal.com have claimed that Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott's representatives are at Arsenal's training headquarters today to finalise contract terms for the England international.
