Tim Cahill makes Red Bulls debut and could make a loan move back to Everton

Former Everton star Tim Cahill has recenlty made his debut for New York Red Bulls, playing 45 minutes against a familiar opposition, England's Tottenham Hotspurs.

The Red Bulls captured the signing of the summer in the MLS, tempting Everton's prize asset away from Goodison Park. An excellent achivement from the New York side.

Tim enjoys American Soccer and is clearly excited about the prospect of playing in The Red Bull Arena on a weekly basis, he says "As a footballer, you appreciate the stadium, the fans and you realise this is New York city, the is the New York Red Bulls. This is a new chapter in my life and I want to enjoy it"

Cahill was a cult hero at Everton and surprised many people by leaving, but the appeal of the city, the club, the stadium and the supporters all proved too much for him to refuse. Cahill also grew up in New York in his younger days.

The Bulls lost the game 2-1, but Cahill put in a solid performance in his usual attacking midfielder role. He said about the game "It was a really solid performance and that is what we need to build on"

He will need to work on his fitness, naturally at this stage of the season just finishing a long term over in the Premier League, but once he's fit, he's sure to be a brilliant role model amongst the younger players in the squad.

Everton however, may not have completely lost their star man, and as they have done before with Landon Donavon from LA Galaxy, there is a possibity that Cahill may be loaned back to Everton once the MLS season finishes.

8 years as an Everton player it would be hard to resisit a loan temptation. When asked about a possibe return to Goodison he was diplomatic, certainly not ruling it out, he said "Going on loan might not be the right thing for the football club, but if it works out that I can find the right happy medium to get the fitness, keep playing in games, and maybe yes"

A new chapter is beginning fo the 32-year old Australian International.
