Tottenham Hotspurs were held by Maribor for yet another draw during the midweek Europa League group stages match making it their third draw in a row. Spurs are yet to register a victory in this season’s Europa League making it three points of three matches.Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is confident of making it to the next round of Europa League despite being held by 1-1 draw by Maribor.

Robert Beric opened the scoring for the host just before the half time mark giving a lead to the home team. Spurs were still without the likes of without Emmanuel Adebayor and Gareth Bale for the trip to Slovenia.

The English side came up with a much better game in the second half which resulted in a goal for Spurs with Gylfi Sigurdsson scoring in the 58 minute. The draw takes Spurs to third place with three points. Panathinaikos held Lazio to a 1-1 draw which leaves them which leaves a point separating all the teams in the group leaving it wide open for the teams to qualify for the next round.

Spurs manager was not satisfied with the result but it is positive for spurs considering the circumstances. Speaking about the game Villas-Boas said "The second half was extremely good; the first half was not so good"

"We came back into the game, which is pleasant to see again and it is good for us to bounce back. It is obviously not the full result we wanted bearing in mind the draw between Lazio and Panathinaikos, but certainly we will take a point”

"The group is completely open. What we face now is two games at home and I think we are in a good position in the group. We are in third position. We have three games to play, there are nine points to play for. You see the group - it is very tight. It is not a group where the leader has run off with points."
