Chelsea lost yet another midfielder as the 29-year-old Portuguese International Raul Meireles has completed a move to Turkish Side Fenerbahce. The Turkish club has signed Meireles for a fee for £8m.
The Turkish transfer window remains open till Wednesday which is longer than the English Football Transfer window has been an advantage in signing the player. Fenerbahce are looking to strengthen their midfield after Emre Belozoglu left for Atletico Madrid on a free transfer earlier this year.
The Portuguese International has been a regular figure for his country playing more than 60 international games. Meireles has been in Chelsea for just a year after signing on a four-year contract from Premier League rivals Liverpool in 2011.
Chelsea's decision to sell Meireles may not be appreciated by many as they recently lost Michael Essien who is on a season long loan at Real Madrid. With Meireles exit from the London club, Roberto Di Matteo is just left with Frank Lampard, Mikel John Obi and Oriol Romeu as his only regular deep-lying midfielders.
