Brazilian forward Hulk has signed for Zenit St Petersburg from Porto on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Hulk has been linked with a move to Premier League club Chelsea throughout this summer with Tottenham Hotspurs showing interset in signing the player.

Chelsea has failed to sign the Brazilian International due to the £40 million asking price from the Portuguese side. The Russian transfer window is open for a couple of weeks longer than most other European leagues, which has been an added advantage for Luciano Spalletti's side.

Porto president Pinto Da Costa reacted to reports that Zenit had pulled the plug on a deal to sign Hulk last week.

"It was Porto who rejected €50 million for Hulk from Zenit"

"I think it is ridiculous to hear that Zenit's board did not sanction such an offer when two of their chiefs were here to present that exact bid for the player" Da Costa said

However, the Russian side did manage to sign the Brazilian as one's not sure whether the comments made by Porto's President last week were of great remark.

"He just completed all the formalities. It's a five-year contract," Zenit spokesman Dmitry Tsimmerman said. Hulk will wear Number 29 for his new club.

Hulk helped Porto to win three Portuguese league titles and the 2011 Europa League. The Brazilian International joined Porto from Japanese side Tokyo Verdy and scored 54 goals in 103 league matches after signing in 2008.
