One of the biggest stories of this summer transfer window has been Robin Van Persie's decision not to sign another contract with Arsenal, thus causing the saga that is known as the 'Van Persie windmill'.
The one time Arsenal hero and Dutch captain has caused a real storm in London this season and has lost his faithful Arsenal supporters love. He clearly does not wish to play at Arsenal anymore and wants to win trophies.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has since proved his ambition to win a trophy at Arsenal by going after some of the best properties in football at the moment, the latest being highly rated Santi Cazorla. So could Van Persie now be regretting his decision to not sign a new contract as Arsenal's new look attack takes shape?
Juventus are desperate to sign Robin and have already had a bid rejected by Arsenal, he was also keen to sign for them. That was until the controversy that now surrounds Head Coach Antonio Conte, who has been caught up in his country's match fixing scandal.
Both Manchester clubs also want to sign the ageing striker, who is 29 this month. United have allegedly had a £15 million bid rejected by Arsenal and are said to not be able to afford much more than that.
Manchester City have also made a bid for Van Persie, again rejected by Arsenal. But the Dutchman is said to be keen on avoiding a move to City, with there being so much competition for the main striker position.
So Van Persie could be in a dilemma. Taking the above into account, out of the three clubs that wish to sign him, it is Manchester United who are the most suitable now, but can they stretch to the believed £20 million that will seal a deal? I believe so. Ferguson is a huge admirer of Van Persie and with the likes of Chelsea and City boasting scary attacking line-ups this season, Sir Alex will need to do something to keep in line, he could be ready to play his trump card.
Staying at Arsenal would be an option? No, he's already stated that he is not to be signing a new contract, and it already looks as if Arsenal are preparing life without Robin. New Signing Lukas Podolski is rumoured to be offered the number 10 shirt, when Van Persie officially leaves.
So will it be United? Or will he take a risk and chose his desired destination, Juventus? Time will tell.
