Manchester City, trailing United by a point in the title race head to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan Athletic. It was a surreal day for Mancini on Sunday, much of the focus was on Rafa Benitez taking the helm at Chelsea and the hostile reception he faced. It was a dull affair at Stamford Bridge, Mancini believed his side had done enough to win it. But on the balance of play, it could have went either way.
City will be confident they can take three points from Wigan, they have won their last five against them without conceding a goal, however Roberto Martinez's Wigan are a side to be reckoned with. At the weekend, Jordi Gomez was the star of the show, scoring a hat trick as Wigan won an early 'six-pointer' against Reading, 3-2. Wigan are damaged on the injury front, Ivan Ramis and Gary Cadwell could miss out. Leaving Wigan vulnerable at the back, City will relish this and will look to exploit it. Manchester City have yet to hit top gear despite being unbeaten in 19 games. Vincent Kompany will play despite nursing a knee injury, he'll be cautious as not to do any damage to it. Perhaps this may be the only way Wigan could get a result. Two side that like to play 'football' should make it an interesting game. Prediction: Wigan 1-2 Manchester City
