British and American Television host Piers Morgan has never been one to shy away from venting his opinions via social networking sites, this latest dig comes as no surprise.
Morgan, who is an opinionated Arsenal supporter, reacted angrily to the news that club captain Robin Van Persie has decided to leave the Gunners and join close rivals Manchester United. An animated Morgan said on Twitter "Funny, I really thought @persie-official was different. But he turned out to be just another mercenary, heartless, selfish little s**t".
In a session of venting his frustrations he then went on to blast Van Persie's betrayal towards manager Arsene Wenger, "What a sickening betrayal of Wenger too, the man who stood so loyal behind @persie-official through years of injury".
Arsenal Football Club officially announced the deal on their club website and although there has been no confirmed fee as yet, reports suggest that United have paid somewhere in the region of £24 million for the 29-year-old Holland international.
Morgan also had a dig at Arsenal's Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis saying "Well done Gazidis, great bit of business - selling Arsenal's top player to our bitter rivals. Shame on you and the whole board".
Leaving himself wide open to retaliation he then insulted Wayne Rooney by saying "Careful Shrek, you've got a new donkey arriving". Morgan then received mocking responses via Van Persie's new team mates Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand who both waded in with comments.
Rooney said "Arrrr poor Piers. @piersmorgan whats up now big man? To which Morgan replied "I'm fine thanks number two striker at Old trafford".
Rio Ferdinand joined in with the mocking by putting the famous tears for piers hashtag "Hahahahaha #TearsForPiers quickest RT of a tweet i've seen so far 5,000+ in 20 mins"
Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt who is also a United supporter was one of those who decided to retweet Ferdinands comments.
It isn't the first time these three have been involved in a Twitter feud. Back in May this year when referring to an award ceremony that Rooney had been too, Morgan asked whether he won 'The Fastest Transfer U-Turn Of The Year After Big Cheque Replied'.
To which the United striker replied "did you win 1 for most boring show of the year? Stop hanging on to me pls I don't want to know u".
Arsenal will now have to work hard to keep hold of other star players such as Alex Song and Theo Walcott who are both now linked with moves away from Emirates after Van Persie leaving.
