The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers 6-2 on Friday in the seventh and deciding game to win Major League Baseball's World Series for the first time in five years.

The Cardinals completed one of the most extraordinary comebacks in World Series history, scraping into the playoffs on the last day of the regular season then twice coming back from the brink of defeat in a heartstopping sixth game, then winning game seven to claim the World Series for the 11th time, second only to the New York Yankees.
