Filming for “Star Wars: Episode 8” will begin soon at Skellig Michael and a new report on the scenes being filmed confirm rumors about Luke Skywalker getting a new apprentice in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” More details about the possible origins of Knights of Ren have also surfaced online.

[Spoiler alert]

According to a report by StarWars7News, a scene for “Star Wars: Episode 8” will soon be filmed on a set that has been described as a “Jedi Monastery.” Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) is said to be involved in the scene and the report speculates that Daisy Ridley (Rey) will also be there for the scene.

The scene apparently requires wind and rain machines and may also involve lightsabers. This suggests that Rey may be the new Jedi that Luke will take under his wing for training.

More evidence of Rey eventually choosing to be a Jedi has emerged in a report by MakingStarWars, which shows pictures of trading cards of the character. Rey will fight for the Resistance forces against the First Order, this is evident from the trailers. However, the symbols on her trading card are of both the Resistance as well as the Jedi Order.

It is unclear whether Rey will become a Jedi towards the end of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” or at the beginning of the sequel. The report also points out that the Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) card has a symbol that is different from that of the First Order and speculates that this could be the insignia of his mysterious group called Knights of Ren.

According to another report by MakingStarWars, the novel “Star Wars: Aftermath” may have provided more clues about the villainous group. The book reportedly mentions a group named “Acolytes of the Beyond,” who are obsessed with Darth Vader. The report speculates that the formation of Knights of Ren may have something to do with the Acolytes.

Fans of the franchise are counting down days for the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The movie has been directed by J.J. Abrams and is slated to be released on Dec. 18, 2015 in the U.S.
