Six years after the controversial incident in which former Playboy Playmate Stephanie Adams was brutally handled by NYPD for allegedly threatening a cab driver with a gun, a Manhattan jury awarded Adams $1.2 million for the injuries she incurred during her scuffle with the police.

Adams, 41, filed a lawsuit against the NYPD claiming that they had used excessive force in her arrest- throwing her to the ground at gunpoint after falsely accusing her of threatening her taxi driver. The New York Daily News reports that Sgt. John Rajan told the jury that the officers did not actually know if she was armed and he later confessed that she was wearing tight-fitting clothing, and there was no place to conceal the weapon.

I know there is good and bad in every organization, Adams told CBS. I just hope this, along with other people speaking out, will prompt the city to take action against police officers who use excessive force.
