Stephen Colbert did not hold back when it came to roasting President Donald Trump during his opening monologue at the 2017 Emmy Awards. Not only did the "Late Show" host tell several jokes which were directly aimed at the Trump presidency, but he also suggested that Trump only became President because he lost at the Emmy's before.

While hosting the show in Los Angeles on Sunday night, the CBS late night host went hard with his jokes about the President, including one where he indicated that Donald Trump's prior Emmy losses for "Celebrity Apprentice" somehow influenced his decision to run for President—and eventual win.

"Even during the campaign, Trump would not let it go," Colbert said. "But he didn't because unlike the presidency, Emmys go to the winners of the popular vote. He was nominated multiple times for 'Celebrity Apprentice' but he never won. If he had won an Emmy, I bet he never would have run for president. Trump is like Walter White. He's just like Walter and much Whiter."

The joke came with a clip from one of the 2016 Presidential debates as well, where Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton addressed Trump's previous quips about losing at the Emmy's.

In the clip, she referenced how he said the awards show had been rigged, claims he made on Twitter when he previously lost the awards. He then interrupted, saying he "should have won."

The Emmy joke didn't end there however, as he went on to further roast the President by making fun of the claims he made early in his term that his Inauguration Day crowd was the biggest one that had ever been seen, by bringing out none other than his former Press Secretary who defended the claim—Sean Spicer, in a move which stunned both the live audience and the ones watching from home.

Prior to the jokes about the Emmy's and crowd sizes, Colbert also called out Alec Baldwin's portrayal of the President on "Saturday Night Live," saying that he and Trump were "neck and neck" when it came to being the biggest stars on TV, saying that Baldwin was "up against a lot of neck."

He also said he was looking forward to Trump's tweets about him, as the President had previously been known to take to Twitter about the show over the years.

While some of his tweets focused on knocking the various hosts over the years, including Seth Meyers, who he claimed had "marbles in his mouth," but also often knocking the fact that "Apprentice" never won as well.

Colbert wasn't the only one to attack the President's former stance about the Emmy's however. After winning the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Baldwin took to the stage to also call out Trump's previous complaints about not winning.

"I guess I should say Mr. President, here is your Emmy," Baldwin said after accepting the award.
