Everyone’s been talking about the anti-gay comments Academy Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons made in a HuffPost Live interview on Wednesday, in which he said that gay marriage could lead to fathers marrying their sons.

Well, naturally, Stephen Colbert had to chime in on the conversation and offer Irons a taste of his own medicine.

"So, if gay marriage is legalized in England, Jeremy Irons' son Max: Get ready to make your father the happiest man alive,” Colbert said to a round of applause from the audience. He went on to note that the two have been together for 27 years now and that Irons ought to “put a ring on it.”

Although Irons made clear in the interview that he doesn’t have strong opinions either way about gay marriage, Colbert teased Irons' rambling on the issue, saying, “Please don’t stop talking about the issues. Or do, I don’t have strong feeling either way.”

Last week, while the Supreme Court was hearing cases on gay marriage, Colbert had the same feelings toward Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly, who also gave a noncommittal stance about marriage equality, saying that opponents of same-sex marriage can only “thump the Bible” in their arguments.

To that, Colbert said, “Bill O'Reilly doesn't feel that strongly about something? What's happening?! You're Bill O'Reilly! Read your f*cking contract!"
