Liverpool star Steven Gerrard underwent successful surgery on his groin, and is expected to miss up to four weeks.

The 30-year-old midfielder is likely to miss at least three Premier League matches. Gerrard suffered the injury in a 1-0 victory against Chelsea on February 6th at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds will miss Gerrard for the second leg of a Europa League match against Braga on Thursday at Anfield, in which Liverpool is down 1-0.

Liverpool host Manchester City on April 11th, and travel to Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal on April 17th.

The injury carries ramifications for England as well, as a Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales looms on March 26th.
