Stock index futures pointed to a fall of more than 1 percent at the open on Monday as investors paused after a strong run and several major banks announced large common stock offerings to repay government bailout funds.

U.S. Bancorp , BB&T Corp and Capital One Financial Corp became the latest banks to seek additional funds, raising concerns about how the market will cope with demands for new capital.
