Going into Friday afternoon trading, stocks have come off their lows of the day and are showing some uncertainty.
Gold and health insurance stocks are leading the declining stocks, with the Amex Gold Bugs Index down 4.3 percent and the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Payor Index down 2.9 percent.
At the other end of the spectrum, computer hardware and oil services stocks are leading the advancing stocks. The Amex Computer Hardware and Philadelphia Oil Services Indices are up 3.4 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively.
Currently, major averages are mixed, with the Nasdaq up 1.13 at 1,603.76, while the Dow is down 18.08 at 7,960.00 and the S&P 500 is down 1.24 at 833.14.
