RTTNews - Stocks moved sharply lower at the start of trading on Monday, with the major averages seeing some further downside after coming under pressure last week. The initial weakness is partly due to renewed concerns about the outlook for the global economy.

With commodity prices moving lower amid concerns about demand, resource stocks are helping to lead the way lower in early trading. Chemical, transportation, networking, and healthcare provider stocks have also come under pressure.

The major averages have seen some further downside in recent trading, falling to new lows for the young session. The Dow is currently down 75.87 at 8,463.86, the Nasdaq is down 22.74 at 1,804.73 and the S&P 500 is down 11.36 at 909.87.
