RTTNews - With some traders sticking to the sidelines following the rally seen in the previous session, stocks are turning in a lackluster performance in morning trading on Tuesday. The major averages have had difficulty sustaining any significant moves.

While most of the major sectors are showing a lack of direction, airline stocks have moved sharply higher over the course of the morning. The NYSE Arca Airline Index is currently up 4.2 percent, rising to a six-month intraday high.

Strength has also emerged among biotechnology, real estate, and banking stocks. Gold stocks are also moving higher amid an increase by the price of the precious metal.

On the other hand, oil service stocks are posting notable losses, as the price of crude oil gives back some ground following a recent rally.

The major averages are currently turning in a mixed performance, although they are all nearly unchanged. While the Nasdaq is down 3.20 at 2,005.41, the Dow is up 3.93 at 9,290.39 and the S&P 500 is up 0.24 at 1,002.87.
