Stocks extended their slide on Friday as bank shares, including JPMorgan , stumbled following news of a tepid debut of a key U.S. Federal Reserve measure to revive lending.

Industrials stocks also faltered with 3M dragging the Dow lower.

Big-cap technology stocks, including Intel , hurt the Nasdaq. The chipmaker dropped 5 percent to $14.38.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 102.59 points, or 1.39 percent, to 7,298.21. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 15.30 points, or 1.95 percent, to 768.74. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> slid 30.49 points, or 2.06 percent, to 1,452.99.
