Stocks opened little changed on Tuesday as investors focused on retreating oil prices and their possible impact on the economic recovery, while turmoil continued in Libya.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 4.09 points, or 0.03 percent, to 12,094.12. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> edged up 0.20 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1,310.33. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dipped 4.68 points, or 0.17 percent, to 2,740.95.
