The company lowered its fourth quarter revenue outlook and widened fourth quarter adjusted operating loss guidance due to order cancellations and weaker demand for set-top box products.

Family Dollar Stores Inc. (NYSE:FDO) shares advanced 0.89 percent to $ 49.75 in afterhours trading. Its first-quarter net income rose to $74.3 million, or $0.58 per share, up from $67.6 million or $0.49 per share, in the same period a year-ago period. Sales rose 9.5 percent to $2 billion.

Mosaic Co (NYSE:MOS) shares rose 3.21 percent to $77.41 in aftermarket trading session, following its higher second quarter profit on back of higher phosphate selling prices and potash sales volumes. Second quarter net income was $1.0 billion or $2.29 per share, up from $107.8 million or $0.24 per share in the same quarter a year ago.

Atheros Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:ATHR) shares surged 18.85 percent to $44.0 on Tuesday on news that technology firm Qualcomm Inc. is planning to acquire Atheros to gain a foothold in the Wi-Fi market.

Landec Corp (NASDAQ:LNDC) shares advanced 5.41 percent to $6.23 in aftermarket trading session after the company said its second-quarter earnings jumped 34 percent on margin improvement and higher sales linked to a May acquisition.

Ruby Tuesday Inc. (NYSE:RT) shares advanced 0.22 percent to $13.95 in premarket trading session. The company is expected to report second quarter net income of $0.05 per share on revenues of $279.35 million after market closes.
