RTTNews - With traders expressing some uncertainty about the outlook for the markets following the substantial rally that was seen in the previous session, stocks have had some difficulty sustaining any significant moves in morning trading on Tuesday.

Nonetheless, stocks have largely held onto the standout gains that were posted yesterday, which is likely to be seen as a positive sign for the markets.

Airline stocks are seeing considerable strength in late morning trading, moving further off their recent lows amid a modest decrease by the price of oil. Significant strength is also visible among housing, health insurance, and gold stocks.

On the other hand, banking stocks have come under pressure after several financial giants announced capital raising plans. Semiconductor, real estate, and natural gas stocks are also posting notable losses on the day.

After seeing considerable volatility earlier in the session, the major averages are currently hovering in positive territory. The Dow is currently up 34.15 at 8,755.59, the Nasdaq is up 11.28 at 1,839.96 and the S&P 500 is up 3.05 at 945.92.
