Stocks are continuing to show uncertainty during mid-afternoon trading on Friday.

On the upside, computer hardware and oil services stocks are posting strong gains, with the Amex Computer Hardware Index and the Philadelphia Oil Services Index posting gains of 3.4 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, gold and health insurance stocks continue to suffer some of the worst losses of the day. The Amex Gold Bugs Index is down 5.1 percent and the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Payor Index is down 3.3 percent.

Currently, the major averages are mixed, with the Dow down 24.61 at 7,953.47, while the Nasdaq is up 9.87 at 1,612.50 and the S&P 500 is up 1.02 at 835.40.
