RTTNews - Stocks moved higher at the start of trading on Thursday, with the major averages regaining some ground after ending the previous sharply lower. Traders are picking up stocks at reduced levels despite the release of some disappointing employment data.

After seeing considerable weakness in recent sessions, semiconductor stocks are helping to lead the way higher in early trading. Housing, banking, and transportation stocks are also showing notable moves back to the upside.

The major averages have continued to move higher in the past few minutes, rising to new highs for the young session. The Dow is currently up 52.72 at 8,337.61, the Nasdaq is up 17.74 at 1,681.93 and the S&P 500 is up 5.83 at 889.75.
