RTTNews - Stocks have moved modestly higher in early trading on Tuesday, with the major averages regaining some ground after ending the previous session sharply lower. Nonetheless, buying interest has remained somewhat subdued, limiting the upside.

After helping to lead the way lower in the previous session, resource stocks are posting strong gains amid a rebound by commodities prices. Transportation, housing, and real estate stocks are also seeing some early strength.

In the past few minutes, the major averages have pulled back off their highs for the young session, with the Dow pulling back near the unchanged line. The Dow is currently up 4.46 at 8,616.59, the Nasdaq is up 4.93 at 1,821.31 and the S&P 500 is up 2.14 at 925.86.
