RTTNews - Stocks showed a notable decline at the start of trading on Monday, with the major averages moving back to the downside after seeing considerable strength last week. Profit taking contributed to the initial downward move.

With commodities prices moving mostly lower, resource stocks have helped to lead the way to the downside in early trading. Airline, health insurance, and chemical stocks have also come under pressure, while some banking stocks are bucking the downtrend.

The major averages have seen some further downside in the past few minutes, falling to new lows for the young session. The Dow is currently down 75.95 at 8,687.18, the Nasdaq is down 18.66 at 1,830.76 and the S&P 500 is down 7.88 at 932.21.
