RTTNews - After moving higher at the open, stocks have seen continued strength over the course of morning trading on Friday. While the major averages have not seen much follow through on their initial upward moves, they have remained firmly positive.

Health insurance stocks are turning in some of the best performances, driving the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Payor Index up 3.4 percent. At it high for the session, the index was at its best intraday level in over a month.

Significant strength has also emerged among computer hardware stocks, as reflected by the 2.9 percent gain being posted by the NYSE Arca Computer Hardware Index. Railroad, metal, and software stocks are also posting notable gains.

On the other hand, natural gas stocks have come under pressure over the course of the morning, dragging the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index down 1.2 percent. The weakness in the sector comes amid a decrease by the price of natural gas.

The major averages have moved to the downside in recent trading, although they currently remain well above the unchanged line. The Dow is currently up 39.45 at 8,595.05, the Nasdaq is up 26.58 at 1,834.30 and the S&P 500 is up 6.21 at 924.58.
