RTTNews - Stocks moved lower at the start of trading on Tuesday, with the major averages extending the downward move seen in the latter half of the previous week. Nonetheless, selling pressure has remained somewhat subdued.

With commodities prices giving back some ground, resource stocks are turning in some of the worst performances in early trading. Chemical and healthcare stocks have also come under pressure, while banking stocks are bucking the downtrend.

In the past few minutes, the major averages have bounced well off their lows for the young session, with the Nasdaq climbing back near the unchanged line. The Dow is currently down 19.27 at 8,258.05, the Nasdaq is down 0.37 at 1,691.64 and the S&P 500 is down 2.71 at 884.29.
