It looks like “WWE 2K16” will have a little more “attitude” than its predecessor, as 2K Games revealed that WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be gracing the cover of its latest pro wrestling game. 2K also confirms that Austin is one of the playable characters in the game, joining the first six superstars who were initially announced.

Austin told the official WWE website that he is honored to be the “WWE 2K16” cover star and believes that this game will raise some hell like he did in the late 1990s against World Wrestling Entertainment boss Vince McMahon. Previous cover stars for the game when 2K bought the series from THQ were Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for “WWE 2K14” and the current U.S. champion, John Cena, for “WWE 2K15.”

Austin's fans will be happy to know that the game will include plenty of opponents for the six-time WWE champion to take on, as “WWE 2K16” will have the largest roster ever seen in a WWE game. With Austin’s inclusion, it’s safe to say that a number of “Attitude Era” stars will probably join the character, such as Mick Foley, the Rock and maybe even the older iterations of Triple H and Big Show.

Game Informer wrote that Austin won’t just be part of the game’s roster, but will also be involved in the game’s direction. So far, this piece of news hasn’t been further explained, but fans should expect more concrete details during “SummerSlam,” which is scheduled for Aug. 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

“Stone Cold” was actually in last year’s “WWE 2K15” as a playable character, though he wasn’t part of the game’s showcase mode and was simply there as a legend for people to play as. Now, it seems Austin will be this year’s biggest focus for “WWE 2K16,” which is a step up from just being a playable character.

“WWE 2K16”will hit store shelves in October and be available for Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, as well as Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox 360. It’s possible that the game will hit the PC sometime after the console versions, like last year’s game, though no official news has been disclosed.
