The Strain Ep. 7 Synopsis
Fet (Kevin Durand, left) and Setrakian (David Bradley, right) will use the new information they received from Fitzwilliam (Roger R. Cross, middle) to attack the Master in episode 7 of "The Strain." FX

After consecutive weeks of things going good for Eph (Corey Stoll) and Co., the group got tripped up in several ways in “The Strain” episode 6. Will they find a way to fight back and get back on their feet in episode 7, titled, “The Born”?

After a long and event-filled trip to Washington, Eph arrived and was able to find his friend Rob (Tom Ellis), who introduced him to Lee Thomas (Nadia Bowers), a representative of a large pharmaceutical company. Rob and Lee were going to help Eph produce his strain to infect the infected and get it moved out quickly.

Unfortunately for Eph, security from Eldritch Palmer’s (Jonathan Hyde) Stoneheart company tracked him down and killed both Rob and Lee. Eph received a bullet wound in the process. The synopsis for episode 7 reveals Eph will return to New York after his once promising plan failed thanks to Palmer. Eph will try and come to terms with being responsible for the deaths of Rob and Lee while trying to come up with a new way to get his new weapon out there to save the human race.

Fitzwilliam (Roger R. Cross) agreed to join Setrakian (David Bradley) in episode 6, but his time with the team was short lived. While fighting off Kelly (Natalie Brown) and her feeler children to save Nora (Mia Maestro) and Zack (Max Charles) in a church, Fitzwilliam was bit, forcing Setrakian to decapitate him. Although Fitzwilliam is now gone, he still helped point Setrakian and Fet (Kevin Durand) in the right direction. The two will now take his plan and execute it in a way to attack the Master.

Despite all of the negatives, there were two silver linings in episode 6 that should play out interestingly the rest of the season. The hero fans of the books have been waiting for, Mr. Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones), has finally made his way onto the show. Quinlan will likely pick up where Vaun (Stephen McHattie) left off and unite with Setrakian and Gus (Miguel Gomez) to fight the Master’s forces during the day. He told the elders he will stop the Master, but so did Vaun before he fell victim to Palmer.

Speaking of Gus, he appears to have joined forces with Angel (Joaquín Cosio) after the two of them fought strigoi together in an apartment building while delivering food with waitress Aanya Gupta (Parveen Kaur). Angel appeared to have aggravated his knee injury and he was last shown being helped out of the building by Gus. This moment should help Angel see that Gus isn't a "thug" like he originally thought.

Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) was nowhere to be found in the last episode, but she will return in episode 7 where she is expected to have a surprise visitor. Could it be the friend she’s been searching for? Also what will the Master have up his sleeve next after choosing Bolivar’s (Jack Kesy) body to be his own?

The Strain Season 2, episode 7 will air on FX on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 10 p.m. EDT.
