Hip-hop fans consider Drake to be one of the best rappers in music today but when it comes to his peers, not everyone feels the same way. During a recent interview with Vlad TV, rapper Styles P of The Lox revealed why he doesn’t consider Drake one of the best rappers and why he wouldn’t put him in the same class as Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.

According to Styles P, it all comes down to allegations that claim Drake used ghostwriters to write his lyrics. “I like Drake as an artist,” Styles P told Vlad TV. “Before I found out [about Drake allegedly using ghostwriters]... I was like, ‘Ok, Drake, Kendrick, Cole, they in the battle for it.’”

But Styles P says once he found out about Drake allegedly using a ghostwriter, his views on the rapper changed. “Once he got a writer, he’s not in the battle with Cole or Kendrick in my eyes no more. He’s now with Swizz [Beatz], Diddy and Kanye [West]. There’s nothing wrong with that. If that’s what you do, that’s what you do.”

Styles P’s comparison of Drake to Swizz Beatz, Diddy and Kanye West may come as a slight dig to some, seeing as the three artists were producers before they tried their hands at rapping.

While Drake has never spoken about the allegations, which were brought up by Meek Mill in 2015, the alleged ghostwriter, Quentin Miller, opened up about the situation. In a now-deleted letter posted on his Tumblr page, Miller wrote, “I am not and never will be a ‘ghostwriter’ for Drake. I’m proud to say that we’ve collaborated but I could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together.”

Although Miller’s name is not listed on the credits for for Drake’s “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” album, it’s believed he had a hand in creating some of the songs.
