Five American soldiers were among seven killed in a suicide truck bombing in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the U.S. military said in a statement Friday.
Two other American soldiers and 20 Iraqi soldiers were wounded in the attack at the Iraqi National Police headquarters.
The deadliest attack on U.S. trops in nearly a year, a suicide truck bomber breached the gates of Mosul's police headquarters and detonated the bomb.
The bombings took place one day after the sixth anniversary of the fall of Saddam Husseins Baathist regime by American-led foreign troops.
The explosions followed attacks in Baghdad on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, which left at least 49 people dead and 182 wounded. The incidents come amid growing public outrage against the US military presence in the country.
