The real Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) is alive and kicking.

In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 7 of “Supergirl,” Kara (Melissa Benoist) bumps into Hank while trying to save Mon-El (Chris Wood), who was kidnapped by CADMUS at the end of last episode. At first, Kara thinks that the Hank she meets is her friend Martian Manhunter (Harewood) whom she works with at the D.E.O. But soon after Hank starts talking, the Girl of Steel realizes that he’s the real deal.

“I should have locked you in that laboratory when I had the chance,” Hank tells Supergirl in a deep, menacing voice.

“You’re Hank Henshaw,” Kara replies in shock. “The real Hank Henshaw. You survived.”

“Yes, I survived. But that alien … that thing from Mars stole my life, took everything from me,” he tells Kara of Martian Manhunter, a.k.a. J’onn J’onnz. “CADMUS saved me.”

In 1996, Hank, Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain) and a team of D.E.O. agents traveled to Peru to hunt Martian Manhunter. When they captured and began torturing the alien, Jeremiah tried to convince Hank that Martian Manhunter wasn’t a threat and was just a refugee like his foster daughter, Kara. Hank refused to listen to Jeremiah, so the two men got into a fight while the former tried to kill Martian Manhunter.

Although Hank managed to stab Jeremiah in the chest — which would have caused his death — the latter was able to push Hank off the nearby cliff side where he fell to his death. Apparently, that fall didn’t really kill Hank, and now he works for CADMUS to eliminate all alien life on Earth.

“When we [were running] the D.E.O., we hunted aliens, now CADMUS has inherited that glorious purpose: to end alien life on this planet,” Hank tells Kara, sparking a fight between them.

It looks like Supergirl is going to need some help though, as Hank has apparently acquired some super strength since CADMUS saved him.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Supergirl comes face-to-face with Cyborg Superman while fighting to free Mon-El. And based on the sneak peek, it seems that the real Hank is the show’s version of Cyborg Superman. In the comics, the original Cyborg Superman is the NASA astronaut Hank Henshaw.

Tonight’s episode of “Supergirl,” titled “The Darkest Place,” airs at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
