A “sexually compelling” Kryptonian character is being cast for Season 3 of “Supergirl.” The CW

Reign (Odette Annable) isn’t the only new Kryptonian character that viewers will meet in Season 3 of “Supergirl.”

According to TVLine, the CW series is looking for an actress in her 40s to play a mysterious and “sexually compelling” Kryptonian, who is being likened to Carice van Hooten’s “Game of Thrones” character, Melisandre.

No other details about the character have been released, but since the show is going to tell Reign’s origin story in Season 3, it’s possible that this mystery character is connected to Annable’s role.

As fans already know, Reign is Season 3’s big bad. The Hollywood Reporter previously revealed that Reign will be introduced as part of “Supergirl’s” interpretation of the famed World Killer storyline from the DC Comics. In the comics, Reign is one of the five Worldkillers, a.k.a. genetically engineered Kryptonian weapons, created by Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) biological father Zor-El. Just like Supergirl, Reign possesses superhuman strength and has the ability to fly. Created by Michael Green, Mike Johnson and Mahmud Asrar, Reign first appeared in print in March 2012.

Reign’s arrival on Earth was teased at the end of Season 2 finale of “Supergirl,” in which it was revealed that there was another baby from Krypton — in addition to Supergirl and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) — who was sent to Earth before its destruction.

In the final moments of the finale, several hooded figures placed the mystery baby in a pod that quickly left the planet before it exploded. “It should survive the journey. It will grow strong on Earth… and then it will reign,” said the baby’s guardian as the pod launched into space.

Reign and the yet-to-be-named “sexually compelling” Kryptonian are just two of the new characters that will pop up in Season 3 of “Supergirl.” Other new characters that will make their debut in the upcoming season are real-estate developer Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar), DC villainess Psi (Yael Grobglas), J’onn J’onzz’s (David Harewood) dad M’yrnn J’onzz (Carl Lumbly), independent Supergirl fan Ruby (Emma Tremblay) and Maggie’s (Floriana Lima) father Oscar Rodas (Carlos Bernard).

“Supergirl” Season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
