“Supergirl” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that Reign’s set of powers is different from that of Kara and Clark even though the three of them are all from Krypton.

Given Reign’s (Odette Annable) Kryptonian heritage, some fans of the CW series may have assumed that she has the same abilities as Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). But Kreisberg recently revealed to Comic Book Resources that viewers “will definitely see some surprises” in that matter. “Hopefully, it’s not straight up what people are expecting, as always. We’ve got a couple of really nice twists and turns,” the exec producer teased.

While Reign’s powers have yet to be revealed, Kreisberg previously told TVLine that Reign, aka Samantha, “will be more than a physical match for Supergirl.”

But when asked if she’s already started training for potential fight scenes in future episodes of the season, Annable told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month that it’s “non-existent so far.”

While it seems that viewers will have to wait until the latter part of the season to see the full potential of Reign as a worldkiller, fans won’t wait that long to see Samantha grow closer with Kara and Lena (Katie McGrath).

“You’ve got this amazing dynamic of these three women who are starting to become close and realizing they can rely on each other to get through everything that they’re getting through and still manage to save National City,” McGrath told Entertainment Weekly. “We had a lovely scene yesterday where it was the three of us sitting on a sofa with wine chatting. It feels organic and it feels normal. … It feels very real. It feels like normal life that you’re fighting aliens, but you’re still human at the end of the day.”

“What I love that we’ve done on the show so far is we just have these strong female relationships between strong women of all different walks of life,” Benoist added. “There’s no cattiness, there’s no bitchiness, they support each other, they love each other, they are there for each other to the ends of the Earth. I think this trio is the start of something really special, these three women that kind of run National City together.”

“Supergirl” Season 3 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
