“Supergirl” executive producer Robert Rovner teased what fans can expect from female villains Reign and Psi in Season 3 of the CW series.

In a recent interview with TVLine, Rovner explained why big bad Reign (Odette Annable) is unlike any other villain who has appeared on the show. “What’s great about having this villain is that we’ll get to go deeper than we’ve explored other villains,” Rovner said. “We’ll get a deeper understanding of what makes her tick, which will be exciting for us.”

Annable made similar comments about her character during a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con last July. “Reign, as most of you probably know, is a Worldkiller. She was bioengineered in a lab. She was sent from Krypton like Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin), but her story is going to be different than other villain’s that you’ve seen,” Annable said (via Hidden Remote). “She doesn’t come to Earth to go on a killing spree. She had a very specific agenda that she is out to [achieve] and you’ll see that story unfold throughout the season.”

While Annable didn’t say much about Reign’s mission on Earth, the “Pure Genius” alum teased that the character’s journey is “really amazing because it’s kind of a heartbreaking story.” “I think you’ll feel for her,” the actress added.

As for DC villainess Psi, played by “Jane the Virgin” star Yael Grobglas, Rovner said: “She’s super cool, and she’s a good match for Supergirl. It’ll be interesting to see her going up against Kara.” When news of Grobglas’ casting was announced last July, her character was described as a formidable opponent with psychic powers. It was also reported that Psi’s first encounter with Kara leaves the Girl of Steel affected in surprising ways.

Last July, Grobglas was spotted looking sleek and confident in her Psi costume while filming some scenes for Season 3 in Vancouver, Canada. Watch Grobglas rocks her supervillain outfit in a couple of videos uploaded by YouTube user GreenMachine below:
